Government Procurement Requests Valued at BD2 Million Discussed at the 4th meeting of ICT Governance Committee’s (ICTGC) in its 3rd term

Procurement requests by government entities valued atapproximately BD2 million were discussed at the fourth meeting of the ICTGovernance Committee’s (ICTGC) third term. Chaired by Information &eGovernment Authority (iGA) Deputy Chief Executive for Operations &Governance, Dr. Khalid Almutawa, the meeting took place via videoconference andreviewed several government projects and procurement requests submitted byvarious entities.
During the meeting, the Committee reviewed several requestsincluding a specialized laboratory for the Bahrain Genome Project, which aimsto automate the management of samples and genetic data through an advancedLaboratory Information Management System (LIMS). The new system is expected toraise the efficiency of genomic analysis by improving sample tracking,streamlining workflows, and enhancing integration among laboratories,researchers, and physicians. It will also connect with testing equipment and bioinformaticstools while strengthening data quality and security.
The Committee also discussed a Fixed Asset System for the Ministry ofEducation. The project seeks to enhance the Ministry’s asset managementcapabilities through a centralized digital system that addresses challengesassociated with manual processes, improves accuracy in tracking and reporting,and supports better planning and maintenance.
In addition, the ICTGC reviewed two projects submitted by the Ministry ofJustice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf. The first is a Call Center aimed atimproving communication channels with MOJ customers and enhancing theefficiency of processing their requests and feedback. The second is anSurveillance Cameras and Control Room Infrastructure Upgrade to strengthen thesecurity of all stakeholders across the Ministry’s facilities. The project isexpected to improve overall security and reduce incidents through proactivemonitoring, faster response times, and better incident tracking.
The meeting further covered a range of development, maintenance, and supportprojects related to information systems and IT infrastructure at severalgovernment entities. These efforts are aimed at improving the quality andefficiency of IT services and ensuring operational readiness and businesscontinuity.
At the end of the meeting, the committee reviewed the implementation ofdecisions made during prior meetings and the progress of ongoing work.
