IT Projects and Procurement Requests Worth BD1.5 Million Discussed at 67th ICT Governance Committee Meeting

Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain – Strategic projects and procurement requests valued at approximately BD1.5 million were discussed at the 67th Information and Communication Technology Governance Committee (ICTGC) meeting, held virtually and chaired by Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed.

Al Qaed welcomed the committee members, thanking them for their contributions. He welcomed new member, Assistant Undersecretary of Public Health at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Samia Ali Bahram. He also praised the efforts of previous member, Dr. Ejlal Faisal Ali Al-Alawi, wishing her the best.

The agenda included the revamp of the Ministry of Education's official website and the installation of interactive display devices in new classrooms. These initiatives will help fulfill the Ministry's goals and strengthen the education sector’s digital empowerment program.

The committee also discussed a project by the Supreme Council for the Environment focused on the continuous monitoring of emissions from industrial sites, which will establish a dedicated database for factory air emissions across Bahrain. Analyzing and monitoring this data will lead to improved monitoring and control of pollution gases by rating the impact on the environment, esnuring environmental compliance and the fulfillment of Bahrain's commitments to United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) agreements, along with alignment with SDG goals related to environmental actions

In addition, the Committee covered procurement requests related to continous development and maintenance of government systems and improving the quality and efficiency of Information Technology (IT) services. Implemented decisions from previous meetings were also reviewed.

In attendance were Ministry of Education Undersecretary for Policies, Strategies, and Performance, Nawal Al Khater; Deputy CE of Operations and Governance, Dr. Khalid Ahmed Almutawa; Ministry of Health Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health, Dr. Samya Ali Bahram; Ministry of Finance and National Economy Director of Financial Systems Development, Abdulla Ahmed Dhaif; Economic Development Board (EDB) Chief of Corporate Services, Linda Mohammed Janahi; University of Bahrain Dean of the College of Information Technology, Dr. Hessa Jassim Al Junaid; and the supporting team of the Information and Communications Technology Governance Committee.
